July 13, 2021 – Taking medication as prescribed – the right dose at the right time – is an important part of staying healthy and ensuring your treatment is effective. This can be difficult to do if you take a lot of medications every day. Aligning your prescription refills can help.
Having multiple prescription refills to manage can be inconvenient and stressful. It’s a lot to keep track of, and making it to the pharmacy on time is not always easy. It’s not uncommon for people who live with chronic conditions to sometimes forget to pick up their monthly medications.
Getting all of your prescriptions refilled at the same time every month can make things easier. It will reduce your need to make frequent trips to the pharmacy or make multiple calls to doctors. You also won’t have to worry about running out of medication because you forgot to pick up a prescription or call in a refill.
To make this happen, your pharmacy needs to line up your refill dates for you. They do this through a process called medication synchronization, or med sync for short.
Using a med sync program through your pharmacy has been linked to a higher likelihood of taking your medications as prescribed.1
Med sync also enables your pharmacy to provide your medications in adherence packaging, which is another tool that can help you stay on track. At ExactCare, our adherence packaging is called the ExactPack and features individual time-of-day packets customized to your medication schedule. This helps you better understand how and when to take your medications—and know if you’ve missed a dose.
If you’re taking multiple medications, consider talking to your pharmacy about med sync and multi-dose packaging options to help you stay on track with taking your medications as prescribed.
