What happens if my medication is out of stock?
Your pharmacy will typically handle this for you. They check that your medication is available before filling the prescription.
Your pharmacist will notify you that your medication is not available. Your pharmacist may also share any important information or next steps you may need to know. In some cases, your pharmacy may:
- Contact your doctor for a similar medication to use as an alternative.
- Check if other pharmacies have your medication available.
Some reasons medications can go out of stock include:
- A high demand, which may cause a shortage.
- The company that makes the medication is experiencing a delay.
You should call your pharmacy if you have questions or are running low on medication.
