Your ExactPack: What You Need to Know

Reviewed by an ExactCare pharmacist

Welcome to ExactCare Pharmacy! Your medication routine just got simpler.

Your medications will come in packaging that makes it easier to know what medications to take and when.

What Is an ExactPack

Your medication packaging is called the ExactPack.

The ExactPack has a roll of individual packets customized to your medication schedule. Your medication packets are pre-sorted and labeled for you by the day and time you should take them.

Medications Included in Your ExactPack

Your ExactPack contains most medications taken by mouth, including:

  • Prescription medications
  • Non-prescription or over-the-counter medications
  • Vitamins
  • Supplements

Some medications cannot go in your medication packets. They may come with your ExactPack but will be packaged separately. These include:

  • Injectable medications (like insulin shots)
  • Refrigerated medications
  • Inhalers
  • Liquid medications
  • Patches
  • Medications you take as needed
  • Medications that must stay in their original packaging

Reminder! You should keep taking these medications as directed, even though they are not in your ExactPack. Call us at 1-877-355-7225 if you have questions about a medication packaged separately.

When to Start Using Your ExactPack

Your start date tells you when to begin using your ExactPack.

Following this date will make sure you don’t run out of medication too soon or have extras before your next order. You should always call us if you need to start your medications before your start date.

Where to Find Your Start Date

Your start date is printed on the box label of your ExactPack. You can find it at the top right, where it says ExactPack to be Taken.

The first date is the day you should begin using your ExactPack. It should last you until the second date shown. After that date, you should be ready to start your next ExactPack.

Your Online Account

You can view your monthly order details, including your start date, on the Deliveries page.

Your Delivery Summary Sheet

This is included in your shipment and lists all the medications sent. Your start date will be listed in the top left under your order number.

How to Read Your Medication Packet

Your medication packets help you know what medication you need to take and when you should take it.

This is an example of a medication packet. Each packet shows:

  • Day and time to take the packet (like “Wednesday Morning”).
  • Number of packets to take for that time of day. For example, “1/1” means you have one packet to take.
  • Name, strength, and dose of each medication.
  • Description of each medication (like color or shape). This helps you know which pill is what.
  • Amount of each medication in the packet. For example, “x1” means there is one pill of that specific medication in the packet.

If you live in Michigan, your pouches look a little different. State law requires extra information on the label. Your pouches will also show the prescription number and the name of your prescriber.

How to Open Your Medication Packet

Your ExactPack has instructions printed on the side of the box to help you use the packaging.

Medication Packaging Options

ExactCare customizes ExactPack packaging to fit each person’s needs and medication schedule. These options are available upon request:

  • Larger Print: We can increase the font size on your medication packets to make it easier to read.
  • Date: Medication packets can include the exact date, like “8/27 Morning” instead of “Thursday Morning.”
  • Time: Medication packets can show specific times, like “Tuesday 9:00 AM” instead of “Tuesday Morning.”

Options for People with Vision Loss

ExactCare can package medications in separate ExactPacks for different times of day for those who are blind or have significant vision loss. Rubber bands are placed around each ExactPack to help identify medication times by touch.

This means you would receive three separate ExactPacks every month for each medication time. For example:

  • Morning ExactPack: One rubber band around the box.
  • Afternoon ExactPack: Two rubber bands around the box.
  • Bedtime ExactPack: Three rubber bands around the box.
